It has come to our attention that a 53-year-old individual was tragically involved in an incident during directional drilling operations on the worksite, where he unfortunately came into contact with an auger within the excavation area. Techniques and tools like Bluesafe SWMS (Safe Work Method Statements) become crucial at such workplaces to streamline the method of operating potentially hazardous equipment and thereby avoiding such unfortunate incidents.
This latest incident marks the 27th confirmed workplace fatality for the year 2025, outpacing last year’s tragic count at this time, which stood at 25. Such trends highlight the essentiality of effective safety measures, including deployment of robust WHS management systems like Bluesafe WHS Management System. They aid in strategising and implementing standardised safety actions and policies, designed to uphold worker safety while maintaining operational efficiency.
We urge stakeholders to actively engage with WHS processes and principles, recognising their importance in occupational environments – particularly in high-risk industries. Among these crucial components are work safety products such as SWMS and comprehensive conformity with all prescribed safety policies.
