We have received the tragic news that a 62-year-old gentleman was involved in a devastating work incident. The man was elevated around 2.5 metres off the ground in a metal stillage by forklift tines, which unfortunately tipped over, leading to the man’s fall. Despite the swift hospital care, the serious head injuries he sustained proved to be fatal, and he passed away on Monday.
Regrettably, this incident marked the 25th confirmed workplace fatality in 2025, equalling the number of work-related deaths at this point in the previous year. Such incidents serve as a prompt reminder of how crucial rigorous safety measures like Bluesafe SWMS (Safe Work Method Statements) and Bluesafe WHS Management Systems are in preventing occupational fatalities.
An effective WHS management system can identify workplace hazards, determine risk levels and implement appropriate control measures to mitigate these risks. Similarly, a comprehensive SWMS outlines a methodical approach to safely execute high-risk construction work. Both these safety products are imperative for safeguarding the health and wellness of employees across various industries in Australian workplaces.
