A fatal quad bike accident raises concerns for agricultural safety.

A 51-year-old farmer has tragically passed away following a quad bike mishap. The incident occurred when the quad bike struck a rock, causing it to overturn. The farmer suffered severe chest and arm injuries and, despite medical intervention, succumbed to his injuries in hospital on Friday.

WorkSafe authorities are currently investigating the tragic occurrence to assess if additional measures are necessary. This incident marks the fifth workplace fatality of the year, and the third within the agriculture sector. In comparison, the same period last year witnessed six work-related fatalities.

The incident underlines the importance of robust WHS management systems and policies in agriculture to prevent such tragedies. For more information on implementing safety measures like SWMS, visit BlueSafe Online SWMS.
