WorkSafe Launches Investigation into Fatal Tractor Incident

A tragic workplace accident involving a tractor has prompted an investigation.

A 65-year-old man tragically lost his life when he was run over by the tractor and trailer he was operating on a steep incline around 6pm.

WorkSafe has initiated an investigation into the incident, marking a concerning trend within the agricultural sector.

This incident marks the 55th confirmed workplace fatality for the year, with the agriculture industry accounting for five of these fatalities, all of which involved tractors. In comparison, there were 51 work-related deaths reported by the same time last year.

Employers are reminded of the importance of implementing robust WHS management systems and safe work method statements (SWMS) to mitigate risks associated with machinery operations.
