Company fined $140,000 after work platform tips from trailer

Matilda Walking Floors Pty Ltd has been convicted and fined $140,000 after a worker suffered serious injuries when a mobile elevated working platform tipped from the back of a truck trailer.
The Industrial Court of NSW imposed the fine following a prosecution by SafeWork NSW. The incident occurred on 3 August 2023 while the worker was working on the platform.
Matilda Walking Floors pleaded guilty to an offence under section 32 of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011. The company failed to comply with its duty to workers under section 19(1) of the Act.
The judgment is available on the NSW Caselaw website. The company has the right to appeal its sentence.
