Victorian employers and workers can now nominate for the 2024 WorkSafe Awards, recognising achievements in preventing workplace harm and supporting injured workers.
Now in their 35th year, the awards honour individuals and businesses that have made significant contributions to workplace safety and improved outcomes for injured workers. Entries close on Friday 21 June, with winners to be announced early next year.
WorkSafe Chief Executive Joe Calafiore said recognising the efforts of businesses and individuals keeping Victorian workers safe was important. “The WorkSafe Awards represent a legacy of commitment to workplace health and safety and I would encourage individuals and businesses large and small to nominate,” Mr Calafiore said.
“In our 35th year, we honour those who have gone above and beyond, setting standards and championing a culture of safety that ensures workers return home safely every day.”
Last year, more than 100 nominations produced 16 finalists across the award categories. Those recognised included emergency services, local councils and aged care providers.
Victoria’s health and safety representatives will again be recognised through the Health and Safety Representative of the Year category. Other categories are Commitment to Prevention of Mental Injury in the Workplace, Farm Safety Solution, Leading Return to Work Practice, OHS Leadership/Achievement, Worker Return to Work Achievement Award, and Workplace Health and Safety Solution of the Year.
Nominations are open to all Victorian-based employers and workers. Entrants can put themselves forward or nominate another person.
