A 49-year-old man is believed to have been electrocuted while handling an aluminium pole near an overhead power line. His death brings the confirmed workplace fatality count for 2025 to 36.

The man was working alone and handling a 6.5 metre aluminium pole. It is believed electricity from an overhead power line passed through the pole, electrocuting him.

After the man was reported missing, a colleague found him deceased at about 2pm on Friday.

The death is the 36th confirmed workplace fatality for 2025, compared with 38 work-related deaths at the same point last year.
