Updated dashboard adds new views of workplace fatalities

Safe Work Australia has redesigned its preliminary fatalities dashboard and released the first preliminary data for 2024. The update adds a breakdown by mechanism and a five-year average for comparisons over time.
The dashboard presents the latest estimate of workers fatally injured in Australian workplaces, including the number of deaths by industry.
Users can now also view fatalities by mechanism, while the five-year average provides another way to compare the figures over time.
Preliminary figures for 2024 are updated fortnightly on the Our Data. Your Stories website.
The data is revised as more information about fatalities becomes known. The final total of work-related deaths for a given year may be higher than the preliminary estimate.
