New resources tackle risks of online abuse at work

Safe Work Australia and eSafety have developed practical resources to help employers and workers understand and manage online abuse at work.
The resources include a downloadable poster and checklist covering what workplace online abuse is, ways to prevent it and where to find support.
Online abuse involves using technology to threaten, intimidate, bully, harass or humiliate someone. It can occur through social media, phone calls, email or other technology used in the workplace.
The harm caused by online abuse can be both psychological and physical. Employers’ duties under work health and safety laws include protecting workers’ health and safety and managing online abuse risks.
Further information covers the work health and safety risks associated with online abuse, sexual harassment and bullying. Employers and workers can also find online safety resources on eSafety’s website.
