Employers, workers, unions and industry experts are invited to comment on proposed changes to the NSW Work Health and Safety Regulation. Public consultation runs from 4 February to 12 March 2025.

The Regulation provides detailed requirements supporting the Work Health and Safety Act 2011. It covers matters including risk management, workplace procedures and safety measures across all industries.

The NSW Government is using the remake to review opportunities to modernise, improve and streamline the Regulation. Consultation will help assess whether it remains relevant to current work practices and industry needs while protecting workers and community safety.

Feedback can address both nationally harmonised provisions and requirements specific to NSW. The Work Health and Safety Regulation Remake Discussion Paper is available for review and comment through the NSW Government’s Have Your Say platform, with submissions informing any necessary amendments.

Head of SafeWork NSW Trent Curtin said the consultation would help shape the regulator’s approach to workplace safety.

“This consultation will help us ensure that our approach to advice, education and managing risks in the workplace is informed by the latest industry trends and environmental factors.”

He encouraged broad participation: “I encourage everyone to participate in this consultation to help shape the future of workplace safety regulation in our state.”
