A 31-year-old director has been charged after a ute was allegedly driven from Tolmie to Mansfield with a 19-year-old apprentice lying inside a toolbox mounted on the back.
The man faces one charge under section 26(1) of the Occupational Health and Safety Act over an alleged failure to ensure a workplace under his management or control was safe and without risks to health.
In February 2022, the apprentice was told to lie inside the toolbox before the ute travelled from Tolmie to Mansfield.
WorkSafe alleges the director failed to reduce the risk of injury or death by not driving, or not allowing anyone to drive, the work vehicle while someone was inside the toolbox.
A mention hearing is listed at Mansfield Magistrates' Court on 19 June 2024.
