WorkSafe Victoria has charged a department with two offences under the Occupational Health and Safety Act following assaults at Malmsbury.
The department faces a charge under section 21(1) of the Act over an alleged failure to provide and maintain a safe working environment, so far as reasonably practicable.
WorkSafe alleges the department breached section 21(2)(a) by failing to reduce occupational violence risks through a safe system of work that prevented unauthorised access to buildings and security gates.
A second charge, under section 23(1), concerns an alleged failure to ensure that people other than workers were not exposed to health and safety risks, so far as reasonably practicable.
A filing hearing is scheduled at Kyneton Magistrates’ Court on Monday 25 August 2025.
