Adco Group Pty Limited and Colab Building Tech Pty Ltd have each been charged with a workplace safety offence following the Kew Rec Centre collapse.
Construction company Adco Group Pty Limited and façade contractor Colab Building Tech Pty Ltd each face one charge under section 26(1) of the Occupational Health and Safety Act. The charges concern an alleged failure to ensure, so far as reasonably practicable, that a workplace under their management or control was safe and without risks to health.
WorkSafe alleges it was reasonably practicable for a competent person to check the quality assurance documents supplied for an imported steel truss. The check was to ensure the truss had been welded in line with the design drawings and fabrication requirements.
Both matters are scheduled for a filing hearing at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 11 November 2024.
