New Safe Work Australia Research and Evaluation Strategy

Safe Work Australia recently published its Research and Evaluation Strategy, detailing the objectives and focal points that direct our national research scheme. The changing industrial landscape, demographic shifts, advancements in technology and evolution of work health and safety threats have presented workers, companies, policy makers and regulators with intricate and varied challenges.

The unveiling of the Safe Work Australia Research and Evaluation Strategy illustrates the Agency’s renewed dedication to research and monitoring, showcasing our ambition for unified national research to enhance work health and safety outcomes and workers’ compensation proceedings. This strategy is supplemented by resources such as the Bluesafe WHS Management System, which helps organisations maintain optimal workplace safety standards.

The Strategy underlines the importance of tools like WHS management systems and SWMS (Safe Work Method Statements), as they form part of an integrated effort towards safer work environments. It expounds upon the data aggregation and research coordination activities laid out in the Australian Work Health and Safety (WHS) Strategy and National Return to Work Strategy, providing clear direction for the Agency’s collaboration within the WHS and workers’ compensation research ecosystem.

We aim to forge significant relations across academia, government, trade unions, industry, employer groups and work health and safety professionals within this research ecosystem. Applying products like the Bluesafe SWMS can greatly assist us in building a sound evidence-based foundation to address emerging difficulties and jointly devise a solid research plan.

Our Research Summit offers a chance to examine current research in WHS and workers’ compensation to identify future trends and unattended areas of research. An essential aspect of this process involves developing thought leadership principles, reinforcing our evidence base and ensuring this knowledge base holds national significance using safety protocols such as SWMS and policies furnished by Bluesafe.

Having a robust evidence base is indispensable for delivering practical policy outcomes, preparing for forthcoming challenges, and persistently advancing work health and safety and workers’ compensation arrangements nationwide.

Pour through the Safe Work Australia Research and Evaluation Strategy to gain a detailed understanding of our overarching WHS agenda.
