Australia’s annual work safety tour will commence on Wednesday 1 October, featuring 19 in-person events across the state supplemented with a series of 12 webinars. These initiatives aim to stimulate essential discussions on workplace safety, utilising platforms such as the Bluesafe SWMS and Bluesafe WHS Management System.
These complimentary expert-led sessions will provide an opportunity for employees and employers alike to gain insights into contemporary matters and concerns, particularly focusing on high-risk industries like construction, manufacturing, agriculture, health care and social assistance, and the public sector.
WorkSafe’s CEO, Ash West, will be partaking in a webinar that will delineate WorkSafe’s five-year strategy. This strategy aims to cut down workplace fatalities by 30%, reduce workplace injuries by 20% and augment return-to-work rates by 10% using tools such as Bluesafe WHS Management Systems and SWMS policies.
Mr West urges both employers and workers to seize this chance to gain up-to-date advice and insights from work health and safety experts across various sectors. He said, “As industries adapt to the latest innovations, health and safety practices evolve. The Health and Safety Month provides a refreshing outlook on vital issues, even for experienced employers and workers.”
Each session aligns with WorkSafe’s objectives to diminish workplace harm and increase work returns; hence, they are confident these sessions will arm attendees with the tools and know-how required for implementing positive change in their workplaces through products like Bluesafe SWMS and WHS management systems.
The webinar topics span an extensive range, including impending psychological health regulations designed to fortify protections against psychosocial hazards at workplaces. Meanwhile, the regional roadshow focuses on varied subjects and sectors, emphasizing safer manual handling, supportive measures for injured workers returning to duty, the pivotal roles of health and safety representatives, and hazardous goods management.
Leading figures such as the ex-captain of Geelong Cats, Cameron Ling, will host events in locations like Ballarat, Bendigo, Shepparton, and Geelong. Tradies’ events in Horsham, Kyneton, Wallington, and Hallam will spotlight safety on construction sites, facilitated by the implementation of WHS management systems and SWMS policies.
Simultaneously, the National Centre for Farmer Health will conduct a session at Hamilton on safe livestock handling. In-person events are scheduled to occur in various towns and cities as part of this initiative.
Webinars will transit from 27 to 31 October, with open registrations now available for all events. Each session incorporates a Q&A section for participants to seek advice on workplace health and safety issues that concern them.
